Sewing Workshop

Andria and I had the privlidge of teaching a few sewing workshops at a local all-girls high school today.  What a change of pace!  We are used to working with elementary aged kids, so teaching teens was a treat.

For our project, we chose the Just Right Pouch from Sewing School.  We tweaked the pattern a bit and made the pouch with just one piece of felt instead of using cotton fabric.  For embellishments, I brought along a bag of cotton fabric scraps.  The girls had so much fun designing their pouches and making them original.

Here is a batch of some of my favorites.  They stitched on the details before sewing the sides of the pouch together. This is a great variation of the Sewing School project if you have the pattern.

Several girls got really into doing a patchwork design and used the felt as a foundation piece to sew their scraps onto.  Such a cute pouch!  I wanted one too!
The design process is so apparent in this one.
We also caught up with a few of the original Sewing School kids - they were so excited to show off their stuff.  Above is Lila, who sewed the original Just Right Pouch.  Love the little stripes she added!
Here is Mallory who was sewed the Hold My Stuff bag.  All grown up!  What a difference 3 years makes.

Anna - sorry you are missing pattern pages! Did you lose the page or was it missing when you purchased the book? If you lost the page, unfortunately, there's no replacement pages, but you might want to check your local library to see if they have the book for you to use. If all else fails, I bet you can make your own pattern - use your electronic or phone as a guide. Happy sewing!
