Mom vs. Teacher

Today I went back to being a teacher.  Can you believe it?!  It's too hot to go to school.  Summer has just started!

Anyway, I went back.  The end of summer for a teacher is always bittersweet.  There are still so many things I wanted to do; however, I am looking forward to the adventure my new class will take me on.

I've been making a mental list of the differences between my role as stay-at-home-mom vs teacher-mom.  Here's what I have so far.

Moms get to eat breakfast in her PJ's and are often the last ones out of bed.

Moms spend a lot (maybe too much??) quality time with their children and have fun taking them on little adventures to the zoo or Mud Island to ride the monorail.

Moms cook dinner on a regular basis.

Moms will let their kids watch too much TV so that they can clean the bathroom.

Moms sew nearly everyday.

Moms go out to lunch.  Sometimes, they even eat by themselves.

Teachers rarely hear "NO!"  Children that say "NO!" to a teacher are very naughty!

Teachers can spend all day listening to long-winded stories by 5-year-olds because that's what they are there for and don't have a dirty bathroom to clean.

Teachers can craft and play all day long with children.  The kids love the activities they plan, too.

Teachers go home tired, but are so, so glad to see their family.  Luckily, they have a husband that is a wonderful cook.

I think I'm glad to be a teacher where I can also spend 2 glorious months just being a mom.

So get ready for some posts from Teacher Amie!
