Book Report: Kindergarten Diary

I have to tell you about this new book I bought for my class.  Kindergarten Diary by Antoinette Portis is a must for any new kindergartener.  It's perfect!

We already love Ms. Portis - Frankie's favorite book is Not a Box.  In Kindergarten Diary she follows Annalina through the first month of school.  It's all there - being nervous, making friends, getting used to your teacher, having parties, doing classwork.  Plus, the diary form is perfect for my class where we write daily in journals.

I brought it home and Phoebe wanted to read it every night.   Below is her favorite page.  She loves the friend Zoe who wears all pink. (Although really, Phoebe is more of an Annalina.)
This is my favorite page - Annalina decides to drop the "lina" and just be "Anna" because her name is too darn long.
I think a good back to school book is essential.  I read about Butterflies in My Stomach on Chez Beeper Bebe and need to check it out.  It sounds great as well and I love the drawings.

Do you have a favorite?  Please share!
