The kindergarten class across the hall ended their year with an amazing art history unit. While learning about Matisse, the class worked in small groups to create their own Matisse-inspired collages. The artwork was wonderful and everyone wanted to take home the original pieces.
To solve the problem about the shared art, and get in another sewing project before the end of the year, Mrs. Shannon decided to take photos of each work of art and then print them onto printer fabric like this one. I have never used printer fabric before and wonderered about the results - they turned out great.
Then, the fabric works of art were machine stitched onto a felt piece. After adding a backing of felt, the kids sewed and stuffed their pillows. The kids loved them and were so proud of their Matisse pillows.
This idea has so many possibilities!
