Sewing Club is Back in Session!

It's good to be back!  This semester, we have a great group of about 25  kids from kindergarten - 4th grade.  Most of the older ones have sewn with us before and were ready to get to work!

Our first project was the simple So Soft Pillow from the Sewing School book (out in a month!).  It's the perfect starter project and is wide open to interpretation.

Helping to trace the pattern with chalk.  For the kindergarteners, we pre-traced the circle pattern with chalk.  Next time, we will have them trace a pattern, but this can be a little tricky for beginning sewers and we wanted to get them started.
Cutting the fabric.  I love how this 1st grader is now just using her first circle as a pattern instead of tracing the pattern 2 times.
Threading the needle.  We had to do a lot of re-teaching here, but they caught on quickly.
Sewing a whipstitch.
Success!
