Mrs. Shannon, a Sewing Club and Senior Kindergarten teacher, made this super cute and easy "carpet bag" using upholstery fabric. A kind mom gave us an old upholstery fabric sample book that was promptly used for a number of projects.
Just fold the rectangle of upholstery (or other fabric) and sew up the side seams. Turn bag inside out if you want. Next, cut a handle from another piece of fabric. To attach the handle, sew one side to the back outside of the bag and sew the other side to the front using a button. You could also attach both sides of the handle with a button if you wanted.
This little bag is just the right size for holding the essentials.
