My class, the Brilliant Bugs, has been working on costumes for an upcoming performance of the musical "Bugz!" We are busy making antennae for 55 kindergartners and thought you might need some too!
Materials needed: 3 or 4 pipe cleaners, scissors (beads, buttons, pom poms, or tissue paper bows are optional)
Step 1: Make a circle halo with 2 pipe cleaners.
Step 2: Cut other pipe cleaners in half to make feelers.
Step 3: If you are using 2 pipe cleaners, twist the short halves together.
Step 4: Attach the feelers to the halo. Secure them tight!
Step 5: Try on your antennae! Add buttons, beads, tissue paper bows, pom poms or other decorations if you want.
You can make the feelers with uncut pipe cleaners, but we found that they tend to droop. The unique halo concept designed by Eva Claire seems to fit any head and stays on during the play. Leave it to kids to discover the perfect way to make bug antennae!
