If your the mom of a Sewing Club kid, stop reading right now. I mean it!
This stack of lovely prints (mostly Amy Butler) was turned into relaxing eye pillows for Mother's Day gifts during Sewing Club. It was fun to use "really nice fabric" and make something special for mom.
I used a basic pattern from Yoga Journal. The fabric rectangles are 4 1/2 x 10 inches. Machine sew 3 sides and then fill the pillows with a lavender mix. Using a funnel is a good thing.
Our recipe (different from the one in Yoga Journal) is 1/2 cup white rice, 1/4 cup flax seed, and 1 tablespoon of lavender. The mix seems to be a good weight for the pillows. Then, the top opening is whipstitched with careful little stitches and wrapped up for mom. The pillows may also be heated in the microwave for 30 seconds.

sounds fabulous. I have one myself but perhaps I'll have my daughter make one for herself. :) Great idea.
You're right - they would be good for kids too.
