For our first Sewing Club session of 2011, we decided to make winter hats using the Hat Attack! pattern from Sewing School. A perfect project for all levels of sewers. They came together quickly- most made their hat in under an hour. Some kids were working on embellishments for their hats.
How did we organize the project with 38 club members, half of them in in Kindergarten? We had many paper copies of the pattern ready and then cut the fleece into chunks, just a little bigger than the pattern. This prep work made a BIG difference. The fleece was a little tricky for some to trace the pattern onto, but we were there to lend a helping hand.
My favorite part was today, seeing all the kids wearing the hats at school. According to one little girl, she even slept in it!
