Little Stuffed Pumpkin

These little stuffed pumpkins look so sweet on a table or as part of a nature table.  They are quick and easy to make, so you can sew up a pumpkin patch in no time!

Materials besides your sewing kid:
orange felt, paper plate, beans or noodles, stuffing, twig, hot glue or craft glue
Step 1:  Trace a dinner sized paper plate onto your orange felt.
Step 2:  Cut out the circle.
Step 3:  Sew around the edge of the circle with a running stitch.
As you sew, the circle might begin to bunch up.  That's OK, you want this to happen.
Step 4:  Pull, pull, pull the thread until it bunches up.
Step 5:  Add 1/4 cup of noodles, beans, or a mix.  The beans will help the pumpkin to sit.
Step 6:  Fill the rest of the pumpkin with stuffing.
Step 7.  Now, pull the thread really tight so that the opening is small and will fit your twig.  Knot the thread in place.  This step may be tricky for young sewers.

Step 8:  Add your twig and add a bit of hot glue or craft glue so it will stay in place.
Step 9:  If you want, you can also add a little green, felt leaf.  We glued ours in place.
Add to your nature table and enjoy!

We will be making these in Sewing Club this week - I'll be sure to show you some kid-made examples.
